Dr. Stetson tapped for Leadership Fellows Program
Rosemont, Ill.- Dr. William Stetson of Stetson Powell Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, was recently accepted to the Leadership Fellows Program of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS). The goal of the program is to inspire young Academy Fellows to take on leadership roles with the AAOS and in orthopaedics. In general, acceptance to the competitive program provides an invaluable opportunity for members of the AAOS to work with true leaders in the field. This is a year long program and next month Dr. Stetson will be travelling to Washington, DC, to meet with members of Congress to discuss medical liability reform. This is an exciting opportunity and more information will follow after his return from the Capitol next month.

Boston, MA - Dr. Stetson also recently published an article in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery entitled, "The Use of Magnetic Resonance Arthrography to Detect Partial-Thickness Rotator Cuff Tears." (JBJS 87:81-88, 2005)
New York, NY - Dr. Powell recently had an article accepted for publication in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, entitled "Revision anterior inferior capsular shift with semitendinosus enhancement." This research was originally presented last July at the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine Meeting in Keystone, CO. The technique, developed by Dr. Powell and Dr. James Tibone from the Kerlan Jobe Orthopedic Clinic and USC, is for the treatment of multiply failed shoulders or shoulders whose capsule has been ablated by thermal shrinkage. The technique uses an cadaver graft (allograft) or a patient's own hamstring tendon (autograft) to reconstruct the shoulder to prevent recurring dislocation. |
